My Students

We are a public elementary school in New York City with a large population that is culturally diverse and of low socioeconomic status. Our students are part of a diverse group that have many talents, interests, personalities, and abilities. Our children are in the fourth grade and are between the ages of 9 and 11. In our group we have 60 children. Some of these children are English Language Learners and others are children with learning, emotional and cognitive challenges. However, they do all have one thing in common though, and that is their passion for arts in a variety of forms.

For the past year, we have been selected to participate in a Disney Musicals in Schools theater arts program.

Last year, our school successfully put on the production of the Lion King. Over the course of the past several months this year, our students are working hard on a new production, Aladdin. We hope that your donation will help our play run smoothly this year. On with the show!

My Project

Our students love being on the stage. The bright lights, props, and rehearsals really fuel the students passion for performing on stage. Our students have a wonderful opportunity at their fingertips. Being a part of a theater arts program, Disney Musicals in Schools, has taught them to grow and celebrate all the things they accomplish. Our students have come so far since September already and are continuing to grow until our big debut on January 31st, 2019. By working together, the children see how they can accomplish anything they set their mind for.

Our school was selected to participate in the Disney Musicals in Schools theater program.

This year we are preforming the musical Aladdin for the school community and parents. We have been rehearsing in our school auditorium with our microphones however we need your help! With just two cordless microphones, our young actors will be able to transform themselves completely into their character for the show. They will be able to move freely about the stage without having to worry about being in front of a microphone stand or tripping over the cord. These young stars need their chance to shine! Lets make this happen! Their passion for acting is just beginning and wouldn't you like to contribute to their creativity?
