Kids need their time in the spotlight. Every year on a limited budget, I do a musical with the entire 5th grade class. We have recently added a spotlight to our production, and I would like to add a basic lighting system to train kids on how to set up and use a lighting system.

I am a K-5 music teacher in a school with a "life skills" program for physically and developmentally disabled children. Kids with disabilities are integrated as much as possible into the standard classroom.

We have a performance venue with a spotlight and a few light switches to light the stage. We would like to expand the operation so that we have a manually controlled light system that can light the stage in different ways. A more advanced lighting system would also more likely reach the life skills kids, maybe of whom have limited mobility.

These musicals that we do are put together mostly through limited budgets and a lot of hard work from parents, community members and students. We do not charge admission, so that everyone can attend. I do work in community theater as well, and I want our productions to have the same level of professionalism without the same cost.
