My students are third through fifth graders who have been diagnosed with moderate intellectual disabilities (Down Syndrome, Microcephaly, Intellectual Disability, etc.). Every day they enter the school full of life, ready to learn, and eager for what the day has in store. As a Life Skills teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district in Las Vegas, my students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face daily, I am looking to provide them with an inclusive environment where they are encouraged to be themselves and show the world all of their amazing talents.
My students have recently found love of musical theater and dance.
They have been casted alongside their peers in our school's rendition of the Jungle Book. For the first time in the school's history, students with moderate disabilities will have an opportunity to perform with their peers. These students are putting differences aside to put on their best performance for our school and community.

Despite the many challenges they face daily, I am looking to provide them with an inclusive environment where they are encouraged to be themselves and show the world all of their amazing talents. Recently we have received the rights to perform the Disney musical "The Jungle Book." This will be the first time in the school's history that not only we will perform a musical for our school and community, but it is the first time students with moderate intellectual disabilities will have an opportunity to share the stage.
I am passionate about providing my students the same opportunities as their general education peers.
By participating in our schools Choir and Theater clubs, they have the opportunity to display their individual talents to an audience who may never have known it was possible. These students need a quality sound system that will amplify their voices so the school and community can witness the incredible time and preparation they have spent on this production.
By funding this project, you will be providing the most essential piece to making this a production my students, school, and community can be proud of. The current sound system we have available is very very dated and does not provide the quality or amplitude of sound needed to for such a production. We need your help to make our all inclusive production one that my students, our school, and our community can be proud of. Thank you in advance for all of your support.
