Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My creative and spontaneous students and I are seeking your support in acquiring a light table!

Light Tables will benefit my young bilingual and dual language learners by providing them with engaging and interactive opportunities for exploration and skill development.

My goal is to introduce this versatile tool that illuminates translucent materials, creating a captivating learning environment where my students can engage in a wide range of educational activities; such as:

1. Language Development: Through activities like tracing letters and words in both Spanish and English, students will enhance their vocabulary, improve their letter recognition, and strengthen their language skills in both languages.

2. Literacy and Numeracy Skills: Students will develop essential pre-reading, pre-writing, and early math skills. They will practice letter and number recognition, spatial awareness and critical thinking.

3. STEM Exploration: By experimenting with translucent objects and materials, the students will investigate concepts of light, color mixing, shadows, and geometry. This hands-on experience will foster their curiosity, problem-solving abilities, and interest in STEM subjects.

4. Sensory and Fine Motor Development: The light table engages multiple senses through activities that involve sorting, stacking, and manipulating various materials.

5. Cultural Appreciation: The light table will be a versatile tool for incorporating cultural elements into our curriculum that reflect the diversity of our students' backgrounds, celebrating their cultural identities, and fostering a sense of pride for their heritage.

To implement this project we are seeking a total funding amount of $1,121.60. This includes the cost of the light table, appropriate manipulatives, supplementary educational resources and shipping expenses.
