Lighting Our Minds with Limitless Resources

My Students

My students come from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds, and their home lives vary significantly. Several of our middle school students come from military families and more than 50% of our students receive free or reduced-priced lunch. Despite the differences in our students' home lives, they work well together in school, sports teams, and quality clubs. My students are learning that science is in everything, it is a way of life. My students are curious about how science impacts their world.

My Project

Through this project students will understand that everything is not about using up all of our valuable resources. Students currently think that to make electricity they need crude oil which is a non-renewable resource that can run out. They need to understand that they can transform energy through everyday simple resources.

Students will develop their critical thinking skills in using magnetic induction, to transform motion into electricity.

The world as we know it is being depleted by climate change. This will help the students understand that they can help the world by having different forms of renewable energy. Ultimately, leaving our world cleaner.
