My students are from varied backgrounds. Many are transient, moving in and out of the district as the school year progresses. The other portion of my schools' population has grown up in this small yet growing, with many growing pains might I add, community.
Students are driven but often do not have the means to support these dreams.
I wish to provide them with a safe environment to improve, grow and write.
They are devoted to their futures and plan on attending college despite the fact that they will all be paying for their higher education themselves.
My Project
The fluorescent lights are headache-inducing. I suffer from migraines and I have two students who do as well. The lights in my classroom do not help this.
Also, I am looking for a homey and comforting vibe for my students, mostly high school AP seniors, as they balance their transition into the adult world.
Please help me provide a comfortable yet rigorous atmosphere as my students find their voice as they write (frequently) and read (frequently).
My classroom often becomes a home-away-from-home for the students and little things like this allow them to feel comfortable. With so much reading and writing happening every day.
