Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Dream, Imagine, "Picture This..." These are the inspirational words and phases we try and instill in our students. However, not everyone is fortunate enough to have been grated the opportunities to experience all the world offers. We must help our students "see the world."

My students are a diverse and incredible group from the Bronx.

They attend a public zone school in NYC! They are energetic and active but in reality, they lack the opportunities and exposure to many learning experiences that those from the middle and upper class may take for granted. They yearn to build on the knowledge they have through hands -on and interactive experiences in the classroom.

My Project

My students and I would benefit immensely from a document reader to allow us to work as a team by displaying models and graphic organizers in the front of the room for us all to see at once. The opportunities for group learning and discussions in the science classroom would be limitless for us with a document reader. As a science teacher, I am constantly aware of the environmental dent countless photocopies do but I know how much my students' need the ability to see the information and the pictures in front of them and not just described by the teacher. With the document reader, we could project colorful images and even student work to help promote constructive feedback and sharing of ideas. As we come to the end of our year, we will have exit project presentations and reports. The reader will allow the students' the share all of their data and research findings with the class which can help them edit and improve their final products.
