Light Up Our Lives!

My students need a light table, light table manipulatives, and light table building blocks to increase engagement and exploration during Math and Reading.

My Students

My students attend a Title I school, they receive free or reduced priced meals, and they come from extremely challenging backgrounds. In addition to the economic limitations they face, my students are also all learning to speak and read English as their second language. Despite all of the adversity they face, my students come to school each and every day with a smile on their face and a love for learning that you can see from the look in their eyes.

My Project

There are few things in this world that get Kindergarteners more excited than things that light up. Now imagine having an entire table that lights up! By donating, you will be providing this incredibly engaging and educational resource to my classroom, and in the process you will make 17 new best friends!

Children, especially young children, learn through exploration- they use their senses to interpret and learn about their world.

This light table and accompanying manipulatives would provide them with a creative way to practice essential life skills like counting objects, identifying letters, spelling their name, and so much more!

For those of you that haven't been to Kindergarten in a while, a light table is just what it sounds like, a table that once plugged in, lights up to illuminate the manipulatives that are placed on top of it. Just simply by placing letters, numbers, and shapes on this light table instead of a regular table, my students will be instantly engaged and excited.

My students are more than deserving of this light table, they come from very low socioeconomic status homes and consequently our school does not have a PTA with the ability to purchase materials like this light table for my class. By donating, you will show my students that their zip code and family backgrounds do not mean that they should go without. This donation will inspire hope and creativity in my students.
