Light It Up! Light Table Resources to Brighten Students' Worlds!
My students need the Space-Saving Light Table and sensory materials because our space is limited but yet they need the sensory and educational aspects it will bring to our room.
My goal is for all of my students to be well prepared to enter Kindergarten in the Fall. Since this is the first school experience these children have, I want to make it as positive and engaging as possible! By having more materials, I hope to increase their abilities in all academic and social areas.
All of my students come from low-income households and are learning English as their second language.
They are very energetic and creative children who love to explore new materials and ideas. We are lucky to be in a school district where they truly value early childhood education. We use a curriculum that focuses on academics but also on the whole child. By also teaching them social-emotional skills and problem solving strategies, we can help prepare them for overall success in the future!
My Project
My classroom is small but yet we try to pack a lot of educational resources and fun learning experiences into our room. This group of students are extremely sensory and I feel would benefit a great deal from having these light table resources.
The Space-Saving Color Changing Light Table would allow us to have many different sensory experiences while only taking up a small portion of our classroom.
The light table manipulative center also is a space saver as it can rest underneath the table and the students would be able to choose items as they wish. The manipulatives in this set can help with their emerging math skills, literacy skills, and fine-motor skills. The traceable letter and word tiles will give students a new and fun way to practice their letter formation skills and practice their letter-sound connections. The tray and the corresponding sensory materials will allow the students to fulfill a sensory need while also exploring new materials. They will be able to write letters and draw in the sensory materials while also exploring the aspects of light, color, and texture. Finally, they will be able to explore X-rays which will be a completely new and exciting experience for them! We have been talking about the human body lately and I think this set of X-rays will really help these lessons come to life!
