Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students enthusiastically run to my classroom excited about just coming to school. They are bright and energetic and tackle assignments with awe and wonder. They really dive into science and enjoy listening to stories but struggle a bit with math, I want to change that.
My Project
My students have the opportunity to start a science project such as monitor the sun and its length of time in sky during the fall. they start the project at school and then have the family help support them at home by monitoring the moon and its phases. The students will feel self-worth, pride, and accomplishment in themselves and gain confidence. My students can trigger a waterfall of inspiration in themselves and each other.
The ELA material I am requesting can aide my students with feeling and touching the letters to make the connection in understanding the alphabet and the literacy that will follow.
I have students that would really benefit from using these tools. I have a few first graders that do not know their letters and sounds. After this last year, the 'gap year' what all teachers are facing is quite difficult. Having extra tools to help these babies read, understand math concepts, and delve into science will make it fun for them and hopefully bridge the gap that sits before all of us.
