This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Imagine this:

You are a middle school student moving to the United States from another country.

You don't have any friends. You don't understand American culture, customs, or language, but you desperately want to fit in and have a voice. This is the experience of my English Language Learners.

English Language Learners become engaged and encouraged when they can understand the academic content in the classroom. They have voices, and they deserve to be heard and understood. Having access to a Pocketalk two-way translator device would allow students to connect with their peers, school, and community in meaningful ways as they continue to develop their English language skills.

Moreover, The Pocketalk translator will translate a student’s written mother tongue into English. This will affirm that all students' languages and cultures are valued.
