I have a very diverse group of students in all aspects! They range from ages 3 to 5, come from all sorts of backgrounds, and have unique characteristics. They all have a variety of interests but a few that they truly enjoy the most. Anything tactile and sensory related are a crowd favorite within my classroom! The children love to be hands on and learn best from doing rather than watching or listening. That is why I want to incorporate more STEM and sensory related manipulatives into the classroom that are readily available to them whenever they need.
These materials with heighten my students engagement in STEM activities that are hands on and interactive for them! It promotes fine motor capabilities and critical thinking. I want to use these materials in our interest centers and in small groups so the children can use them for free exploration and explicit instruction. I believe children learn best while playing so I want to be able to offer them the opportunity to use them when they want. Also as a facilitator of learning I believe that using them in small groups, with leading questions and prompting further learning, will enhance their experiences with the materials.
