My students come from low-income families, but they love being physically active when they are in school. Due to this new time with the COVID 19 virus I am trying to find activities that students can be playing while having social distancing and have minimal contact. My students love coming to the class I have introduced them to flag football, soccer, floor hockey, frisbee, badminton and last year to lacrosse.
I would love to teach them pickleball which can be a life long activity.
It teaches fair play, individual and team building and it can be a lead up to other racket activities. My students coming from the city really only played football and basketball. I would love to introduce them to as many physical activities as possible so I can reach all of them in finding something that will be a life long activity that they can do. They love learning and playing anything that keeps them moving and hanging out with their friends that all people can play. Pickleball is an activity that I have seen people of all generation play
Learning pickleball is a lifelong activity that will keep my students moving and getting outside for a lifetime I have seen adults at the age of 80 playing pickleball with me at the park. It's an activity that keeps you moving and meeting new people of all generations. I have never seen a sport that age does not determine skill level.
The best part about this activity is that it only takes 2 people to play.
Pickleball teaches a whole new set of skills that might introduce kids to other racket activities. It would give my students other activities to learn and opportunities that I didn't have growing up in the city. I went them to learn as many possible activities to do as possible so they can stay as physical activity as possible throughout their lives.
