Life Skills With Money for Multi-Handicapped

My students need 8 sets of Money resources to learn everyday life skills and survival skills.

My Students

WE LOVE MONEY!! Our Special Education Classroom use our everyday life skills baking and selling cookies at lunch. Students need to have many modes of learning at all levels. Learning how to recognize money, count, add, subtract and make change to achieve this survival skill while feeling successful.

We are a Multi-Handicapped classroom with 9 special needs students in a small town in Oklahoma.

Our class serves children who are Autistic, Mentally Handicapped, Other Health Impaired and have Downs Syndrome. Some students have disabilities with speech. Some receive Physical and Occupational Therapy services to help with their everyday life struggles. We are at the Jr. High in grades 6th, 7th, and 8th. Students work daily on everyday living skills. While working on everyday life skills each and every student is learning how to survive and grow up to be a successful and working adult.

My Project

Students are overcoming many obstacles that life has already given them. Each student has many different special needs. Their handicaps include Autism, Mentally Retarded, Other Health Impaired, Downs Syndrome, Speech difficulties, fine motor and gross motor physical handicaps and many medical issues. Students need to be able to understand the concept of money. Money is an important living skill for them to be able to survive as they grow up. Their goal is to take care of themselves and to be a productive, working, self sufficient and successful adult.

We would appreciate your support and donation to help us purchase some materials to learn money concepts.

We are in a Jr. High school in Oklahoma and as funding is basically everywhere we do not have any money in the budget. We need different levels of recognizing money, counting money, adding and subtracting, and making the correct change. These skills will help my students to be able to one day survive on their own while being a productive member of our society.
