Life Skills for SPED Classroom

My Project

Each of my students is special. However, they come with special needs. To help aid in their learning, we are asking for sensory items to build a sensory wall. This will support students' social emotional needs. It will help them regulate their emotions and have a designated area in the classroom to decompress. To create a sensory wall, we are asking for a sensory wall bubble lamp, sensory mini mats, and a fiber optic curtain light. We are also asking for laminating pouches to create visuals to aid in social-emotional learning. We are hoping to create lessons to teach how to regulate emotional behaviors using laminated visuals and the sensory wall.

We are also asking for cooking items to support life skills.

The goal is to get our students ready for life, and this would massively help. Students would be able to practice valuable cooking skills that are crucial to their personal independence later in life. For building life skills, we are requesting a toaster oven, baking sheets, hot pads, dish soap, and sponges. Hopefully, this will allow our special education students to learn how to bake things safely, and then clean up after themselves.

The ultimate goal is to teach our special education students how to be in charge of their emotions and to live productively despite their disabilities.
