Life: Hands On!

Help me give my students the chance to do hands on activities that will assist them in conceptualizing life processes that we cannot see without extremely powerful microscopes.

My Students

Most of my students are in ninth grade and are just beginning their high school career. Many of my students also have special needs or are English Language Learners They are all vibrant, curious, and energetic.

It is imperative for all students to be engaged in their learning.

Our students love hands on labs, going outside to explore our surroundings, creating art, gifs, videos, and stories, as well as using technology to explore things we do not have access to otherwise. These activities are the things they enjoy the most and the way they learn the best.

My Project

Giving students the opportunity to put together, manipulate, and view microscopic phenomenon can greatly increase their understanding. Microscopes gave us the ability to view things we cannot see with our naked eye. Visualizations and manipulatives give us the same opportunity in the classroom without the hefty pricetag of an electron microscope!

Help our students gain the ability to see, first hand, the beauty of the cell through a Virtual Reality Tour.

Let them play with DNA and RNA to understand how we sustain and create life. Allow them to use 4D models to see how the organelles in our cells combine and cooperate to keep us alive.
