This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This is my 13th year teaching at my elementary school in California. We are a TK-6th grade Title I school serving low-income students who are learning English as a second language. Our staff members devote themselves every day to providing the best education we can with the resources we are given for these amazing children.

These kids are special to me because they work hard to be the best they can be.

I want to make their learning environment as comfortable and enriching as I possibly can. They are our future!

My Project

Thank you for taking the time to read my project.

This project gives each student a caterpillar and cup to watch them grown into beautiful butterflies.

Watching students care for their caterpillar and give them names is such a joy. This hands on, real-life experience into the process and life cycle of a butterfly is one they will never forget. Science is so important for students to learn, and even better when it is hands-on. Students will keep their caterpillar on their desk in a cup to watch it grow and document in their notebooks. When it is time to release each student will get to experience the release and holding the caterpillar on their finger. It is truly an unforgettable experience.
