Life beyond the walls

My students need 4 Fire 7 Kids Edition Tablets with Kid-Proof Cases to maximize group participation and show them a world beyond our four walls.

My Students

Every day I walk into an adventure! My 21 friends are the most caring and energetic second-grade students I have ever met. Each one of them has a personal story. Still, everyday no matter what is going on at home, they greet me with a giant hug and a smile.

I write quotes on our wall in the room every Monday: our favorite is by Walt Disney " If you can Dream it You can do it!"

Our school is a Title I school located in a decent sized community that is busting at the seams. The school that I teach at is one of 5 elementary schools. We have approximately 500 students in our building.

My friends are a transient group, traveling between schools. Due to this and the income hardship of most of these families, we provide free breakfast and free lunch to all!

Every year the teachers shuffle around so we can incorporate new families into our loving community. Most of them are ESOL and some are just shuffling to find a new home. Every one of my students' matter. They all are so SPECIAL in their own way!

My Project

My students should know how to operate the technology driven world they live in. Right now it's nearly impossible. Our school has recently adopted STEM and AR. Both of these are two fabulous programs that require lots of technology, something I don't have access to as much as I would like. Right now my entire school of 581 shares around 60 Chrome books and iPads. It is very difficult for students to enjoy their programs and share the technology that goes with it.

This is a technology driven world and our kids should be behind the wheel!

Not only would my students use them daily for STEM and AR, I will also incorporate educational apps that they could use for reading as well. I have many students who are ESOL and several that are just starting to decode. These tablets can enhance their education as well.

In second grade, we also cover several research papers. These devices could not only help them research but also to help write their papers. We research everything from recycling to Native Americans. This would be another tool for them to successfully gather the information needed. I am asking for 4 fire 7 kids edition tablets. With all the work these babies are going to be doing we definitely needed protective gear. Trust me these tablets will have a busy year!
