My Project

I'm the librarian at a public high school with seventeen hundred students. They come from diverse backgrounds and have a wide array of abilities and skills, which they develop in a variety of academic and career tracks. My school offers students many opportunities to shine--whether through sports, arts, academic pursuits, or vocational training--and they do.

Some of our students speak Spanish as their first language, and we also have many students who are learning Spanish as a second language; I would like to provide both groups with a collection of books in Spanish that they can enjoy as leisure reading or use to sharpen skills they're learning in class.

These books will provide our Spanish teachers with material to supplement their curriculum, and it will help our Spanish learners increase their literacy skills and vocabulary knowledge. And crucially, it will also help many of my English language learners who speak Spanish to feel seen, welcomed, and valued in their school library.

Ms. Barnard will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by September 1.
