This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
On September 4th, 2018 my childhood dream of becoming an Elementary Teacher will be coming to life. This time last year I was preparing to begin Pre-Student Teaching at and now I am preparing to begin my first year as a teacher. I've accepted the position of the K-5 Spanish Teacher and it's such a blessing. My school is a K-12 arts-integrated charter school. Spanish is just one of the several "Super Subjects" students participate in during their school week. My students also take Theatre, Visual Arts and Dance classes to name a few. My vision for my Spanish Classroom is dependent on authentic resources. I plan to align my love with travel and cultural diversity with more typical foreign language instruction. Since I'll be teaching K-5 I will need a wide variety of materials but primarily I hope to create a classroom library which will allow for students to learn about the countries, people, and culture we are learning about. Technology is a wonderful tool which can be used to enhance learning but what's a classroom without a library. My Project
These books with fill our classroom and make learning Spanish more than isolated vocabulary, but instead a joyful journey to Spanish speaking countries: learning about food, music, art and famous Hispanics and Latinos including Frida Kahlo, Roberto Clemente and many more. Help my students travel the world by opening a book. Oh the places we'll go!

I chose books that cover various topics and can be used in several different grade levels. Some topics that will be covered this year are basic Spanish phrases, colors, shapes, holidays, food, language, cultural differences/similarities, famous people (especially artists and athletes). These books will allow for my classroom to come to life and with your help we can provide a deserving group of students with worldly experiences from within our 4 classroom walls.
