Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students come from families that do not have the resources or the ability to help them academically or financially. These materials will help make the library more accessible and hopefully entice the students to want to visit and build their reading skills.

Our students need to be able to enjoy visiting the library and my hope is that it will be a place where they will feel comfortable and safe.

Many of them​ have learning disabilities, struggle with language acquisition, speech impairments, and/or emotional disabilities and come from families that struggle financially. Their life experiences have left them reading way below grade level, struggling to express themselves, often resorting to violent outbursts, and lacking the basics that many take for granted. I want to create a safe haven for them when they are in the library.

My Project

My students miss borrowing library books. While there are online resources available. there is nothing like having a book in your hands. I am preparing to offer curbside pickup to our virtual learners, and will visit classrooms to deliver books to students learning in school. To do this, books need to be labelled properly with book tape.

Library supplies make it possible for me to clearly organize library books to prepare them for student checkout.

This will make circulating books to students easier and faster.

I am excited to get books back into the hands of my students!
