My Students

My students are a culturally and financially diverse group. No matter their background, they are all expected to achieve at the highest level possible. Many students need extra support and time, but they are determined to meet their educational goals.

It is my deepest desire to see each of my students succeed.

Most of my students start the year eager to start mastering grade level skills, but some are a little apprehensive. Whether it is because they are behind, don't have the resources, or maybe just haven't had someone show them how exciting learning can be, these are the children that fuel my teaching. I strive every day to help every student understand that they are worth the time and effort it takes to master new skills and that learning can be fun!

My Project

One of my main goals as a teacher is to help my students love to read of their own accord. Students taking home a book for the weekend is a sight that makes my heart swell. In order for this to happen, classroom libraries need to be replenished and refreshed.

Many students are reluctant readers and that is where a book series can save the day!

If I can get a student hooked on the first book in a series, the battle is pretty much won. After they finish a series with even 3 or 4 books, they are usually ready to find a new series or maybe just another book by the same author. Whether it is an informational book on a subject they are interested in, a realistic fiction book, or a complete fantasy, I need to have books for all my students.
