We recently funded our first DonorsChoose project to help us start our library update, and now we need the finishing touches to complete our classroom library overhaul. This project aims to diversify and add to our library collection while also providing us with additional lighting (I already have purchased lamps from Goodwill, mainly need bulbs) and some sound for relaxing, instrumental music in our reading corner, as well as to pipe sound through from my computer when showing videos and our internal, student-run school television program.
My goal is to give our kids somewhere to learn that they want to be, where they feel safe and welcome.
We have alternative lighting to dim when we use our projector or television, as well as basic sound in the classroom. However, our classroom's overhead speaker system is broken, and I currently use my own cheap portable Bluetooth speaker to pipe sound when needed. I would like to have our own dedicated speaker that the kids can actually hear without straining.
Finally, we selected some award-winning books to add to our library. Our most recent project added a lot of sets to our library, and now I'd like to add some individual titles for the children.
