Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The community that patrons our urban elementary school has diverse languages, learning abilities, background knowledge, and ethnicity. Our Title I school continually strives to help our students achieve knowledge and understanding that will help them succeed in today's world. We are a national award winning outstanding Community of Caring School. Our school enjoys high achievement levels due to implementation of research based practices, quality professional development, high expectations, peer coaching, parental involvement, strong dedicated staff, partnerships with universities and businesses, PLC collaboration and character education. Our elementary school is central to the well being of our families and community.

My Project

Students in my school love STEM activities. Teachers do not always have the time to incorporate fun engineering activities into their lessons. Having a makerspace in the library is one way in which to give students the opportunity to use critical thinking skills to create engineering projects. Students will be able to use the Qubits STEM Educational Building Set and Cubelet Robotics for some of these fun projects.

Donations for this project will help create a makerspace in our library and give students opportunities to be creative engineers that they might not have otherwise.

The makerspace can also be used after school for a Makerspace Club where students can continue to be creative.
