I work at a Title l, STEAM school that relies on the creative funding and determination of its staff to bring resources and materials into the classroom. My students are a hardworking group of individuals who come from diverse backgrounds. They are also all boys! They are enthusiastic and inquisitive and eager to learn and grow. With your help and support, I can provide resources and materials that they would not normally see, but that will help enrich their education and help them thrive. Engagement and diverse experiences in the classroom can help foster a passion for learning and a love for education. STEM is a particular subject area that drives their interest and curiosity. Some projects that I hope to get funded include iPads for centers, mathematics applications for small rotations, Little Bits for engineering exploration, and so much more!
My Project
My students are voracious readers and I am constantly trying to replenish my library with new and exciting titles. Lately, they can't get enough of my National Geographic leveled readers. These informational texts are engaging books about historical figures, places, and fascinating creatures. They help them explore text features and develop deeper content knowledge. The books offer vivid pictures and interesting facts and they will perfectly pair with the National Geographic Reach for Reading curriculum my school is purchasing. This project will help complete my collection and continue to make the big, outside world more accessible to these kids. It will help put more enriching texts in their hands.
