Help me give my students a brand new library space with a Help Yourself Bookstand and a Mobile Book Organizer to continue growing their love of literacy!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our classroom is an open and inclusive Montessori room filled with students of all different abilities. Many of the students in this classroom are from low-income families and suffer from trauma, medical needs and/or cognitive disabilities. I teach in a public, urban Montessori school with over 50% of the students having some type of significant need.
My students have embraced the importance of acceptance and the appreciation of differences.
They are eager to be problem solvers and begin the process of changing the world!
My Project
My children have made incredible progress this year in regards to reading and literacy. We have so many incredible books in our classroom but many of them don't have a home.
We need your help to bring organization and peace to our existing library.
We currently have too many books and not enough shelves. These shelves would provide a forever home for our books. A huge component of the Montessori curriculum is research and using books to research different areas of interest. Right now, the books are disorganized and difficult to find due to the shelf shortage. If we were to receive these shelves, children would have a much easier time finding specific books for both research and leisure.
