Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school has not had a functioning library in many years. This year I started a library on a cart program where each morning, a grade level has the opportunity to select books and borrow for the week to read at home.
"Finally, I can't believe I got this one to read"!
- Those words brought joy to my heart as that 4th-grade boy walked away with an anticipated book in hand! Students are so excited about this opportunity that I now have children requesting particular books or authors, and I even have wait lists for the favorites to be borrowed.
I've selected books to enhance this program with a lot of variety. Books that are favorite characters, exciting graphic novels that are always so popular, and even books that address themes like perseverance and confidence in an engaging way. I'm also asking for additional books that are in Spanish, to grow that section of our cart as well! Your support of this project will reach well over 200 students, that are truly beginning to see the joy and knowledge that reading can bring. Thank you for your consideration!
