Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a Kindergarten/ 1st grade class split. They are very young, and they tend to drop things. The cases would help protect them and the headphones would allow them to listen to what they were working on.
My students are K/1st graders who attend Laurel Span School, a K-8 school.
The students come from all different backgrounds and have different abilities. There are several special education students in the class. Several students are English learners. Most of the students get free or reduced lunch. There is often not much access to technology in the home. One thing all of the children have in common is a fascination with technology. My fellow grade level teacher has a similar group and we both envision using this technology to assist us in keeping all of our students engaged.
My Project
The iPod Touch works really well as a device that students can work on individually. The headphones will allow them to focus on what they are doing on the device. The protective covers are very important for protecting this valuable piece of equipment.
The budget is cut every year and that means that there is no money for investments such as these.
The students deserve the best and latest technology. We also need to protect this investment. That is why it is important to get these materials.
