Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a dual language class, where the majority of my students are from a low socioeconomic background trying to maintain their native Spanish language and also learning English as a second language. We are trying to build a library in our classroom to have books readily available to read independently.
The class age average is 10 years old and we want topics that are not too childish, but adults topics are not of our interest either.
We are bilingual individuals!
Additionally, we want enough copies of a book, in order to be able to learn how to make a book study.
My Project
We will start a book club with rewards for the most avid readers. We need plenty of titles for them to choose the topics that they enjoy reading. The books chosen for this project are classics of the literature in Spanish and are very entertaining and appropriate for the students.
We want to expand our library in Spanish with books that are age appropriate for the 4th graders in the classroom.
What is easy available is to elementary for their reading level and not challenging enough. They need to have a variety topics that are instructional and entertaining. Help us please!
