My Project

Our school is home to vibrant, hardworking middle schoolers across grades 6 through 8. Middle school is a critical turning point where students build independence, deepen critical thinking, and master essential literacy skills. Every day, our students come eager to learn, but keeping an entire school community energized and focused on long-term academic goals requires a joyful, school-wide culture of celebration.

Our campus serves a wonderfully diverse community of learners with unique strengths and reading needs.

This year, every single student in our school—from those receiving targeted reading interventions to our Honors and advanced learners—uses Lexia to sharpen their reading skills. Whether mastering foundational vocabulary or working through high-level grammar and comprehension strands, our students accomplish incredible things when we rally together as a whole school to recognize their effort.

To celebrate reading achievements across all grade levels, we are launching a campus-wide incentive program called "Plinko Power Play!"

Every two weeks, students who meet our school-wide Lexia targets—completing a minimum of 15 units per week and achieving at least 75% on their Skill Checks—earn a ticket for a Plinko chip drop. To make this a high-visibility, community-building event, the Plinko drops and prize distribution will take place right in the cafeteria during lunch periods! Celebrating during lunch allows peers to cheer each other on and transforms academic achievement into a school-wide celebration.

This project will fund the specific, high-interest prizes that make the Plinko board irresistible to middle schoolers: stickers, fidgets, snacks, Takis and more
