Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am the eSports coach on our campus. This year, I am teaching Robotics, AP Physics, Video Game Design, and AP Computer Science Principles. We are in the process of building a new eSports and Computer Science room. This means we have a lot of needs and can't move into the new room until those needs are met.
This project will increase student engagement, which will in turn help us to attract and retain new students.
Esports has been a great way to serve a diverse population of students. It provides many students with an opportunity to build relationships in a safe environment. It has been used by our counselors to help with students with mental health or socialization needs. The materials in this project will help to attract and retain those students. The Xbox will allow our students to compete in Esports matches. It will also allow students to explore physics in games, game design on the Xbox, and understand the hardware involved in the Xbox Series X. Ultimately, these materials will help engage our students and improve their mental health.
