Coach Jenkins from Miami FL is requesting sports & exercise equipment through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students enhanced instruction through age appropriate equipment and convenient instruction.

I teach students who come from low income areas. 100% of the students are on free or reduced lunch. They have very limited access to sports and equipment that is no longer funded by the school district nor the school itself. The environment I strive to create for my students is one the encourages learning new sports and giving them new experiences where access is limited because of their socio-economic status as well as the lack of exposure. There are many students who suffer from behavioral and emotional issues as well which makes it challenging as a teacher.
Jumping Rope is one of the easiest ways to develop coordination. Especially because my students are constantly growing in height. I plan to use this equipment as an aerobic exercise as well. The microphone and music will enhance my lessons and encourage more participation. Imagine a fitness class at a gym. I'll incorporate mini sessions of arm up and aerobic fitness into my physical education lesson.
Learning organized sports is a struggle for 2nd and 3rd grades.
This equipment will provide easier sports that I currently do not have the equipment needed to teach effectively. Adding kickball and volleyball will add variety to my program. Being that my school is low academically, many of my students are older. My students need specialized equipment that is also durable. I also have a class of students with behavior, mental, and emotional disorders. This will allow more options for play in an environment that is restricted due to safety concerns.
