Leveling Up Our Reading Skills

My Students

I teach in a self-contained multiple disabilities classroom. My classroom is located in the high school, but I have students in 7th grade through the age of 22. My students' level of abilities differ from student to student and, at times, it takes creative ways to unlock their potential.

My goal is to prepare my students for life after graduation.

We work on life skills to teach them to function outside of the school walls with the hopes of one day holding a job and being a productive part of society. My group of students are some of the most hard-working individuals and are thankful for every opportunity they are given; they truly love to learn!

My Project

Imagine being in a world where words mean nothing to you. You are surrounded by peers who can navigate through life by reading the text that surrounds us. But you can't.

Edmark Reading Program will be helping students with disabilities from kindergarten through age 22 with all of their reading needs.

These students may need the most basic reading skills at a young age, or they may need functional skills at an older age. The reading program is built with all of these levels in mind.

Having this reading program accessible in our classroom will give our students the hands-on consistency they need to reach their highest reading level.
