My students need fiction books for our guided reading groups and for our class library.

My Students

My students are 2nd and 3rd graders who have disabilities including autism spectrum disorder and specific learning disabilities. They also come from very diverse cultural backgrounds. While they may not always learn like the general population, I always marvel at their unique perspectives and strengths. It is truly inspiring when they are able to overcome a challenge or find a new strength in themselves.

At this grade level, they are filled with curiosity and creativity.

I want to help them access the general education curriculum by giving them the best-leveled texts. By having the right tools I can effectively differentiate for their diverse learning needs.

My Project

This project will help my students' sparse classroom library fill up with books that are at their different reading levels.

My students each face unique challenges with reading, by giving them a diverse library they will be able to nourish a love for reading.

The "Frog and Toad" books and audiobook will help me with instructing my higher level students. Consequently, they will continue to foster their love of reading without getting bored. While the "Guided Reading Level D book set" will help my students who are below grade level in reading not lose hope and continue to engage with literature.
