Help me give my students books at their reading level. Learning to read is challenging, but by having developmentally appropriate books, the children will gain confidence in their reading abilities.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a great group of kindergartners who make me excited to get to work each day! I teach at a public charter school where 98% of students are socioeconomically disadvantaged and more than 60% are English language learners.
They are passionate learners who are eager to accomplish new skills, read interesting books, and make sense of the world around them.
It is so important to me that I am giving my students the best education -- they deserve the world.
My Project
These books will be used by my students every day as they practice their new reading skills on books that are at their Just Right Level.
As a beginning reader, kindergarteners can't just pick up any book and practice decoding.
They need specific books pinpointed for their developmental level. This allows the children to gain confidence as they practice reading.
These books would make such a huge impact in my classroom. Our school has no library, and many families have expressed feeling unsafe at the local community library. I try my best to provide my students with books, but kinder-level books are almost impossible to find second-hand.
