My special education students need 11 items such as a stockpot, jelly roll pan, mandolin slicer, can opener, and mixing bowls for making and preparing meals for the school to learn vocational and self-help skills.

Lettuce Toss A Salad! 1st - 5th Special Education class wants to toss a few salads. Made to order! Staff orders it, we prepare it, then they enjoy it!!! Yummy!!!

My extraordinary students face many obstacles on a daily basis. Some of my students have extreme physical impairments therefore making them dependent on a wheel chair. Others have mental impairments, therefore normal everyday communication may not be so normal for them. I want them to all feel useful and appreciated for who they are in their own special ways, at the same time learning great everyday skills we take for granted.

Watch out veggies! Were coming to slice you, dice you, shred you and chop you! Then off to the greens you go! My students will be making salads to order for staff members in the building. They will be responsible for taking orders, collecting money and preparing shopping lists. Then it will be time for them to slice, dice, peel, shred and chop all the ingredients. Due to many of my students physical impairments this manual labor is pretty much impossible. That is where electric choppers, can openers, shredders and etc., come into play. With these items my students will be able to perform the same tasks their peers perform. Therefore feeling useful and equal. These salads will also incorporate math skills in the recording and counting as well as social in communicating orders and fulfilling them. We all know how much fun and rewarding hands on learning can be!

Your donations will empower my students! These donations will make it possible for my students to succeed now as well as help prepare them for a few fundamentals of upcoming necessary life skills. These social and self-help skills will help them get jobs, increase confidence in communicating with peers which will help them become successful members in society. It will also empower them to be able to perform their assigned jobs and show that with help, these obstacles are no longer a challenge. Empowerment is Key to Success!!!
