My students need a kinetic writing experience. An opportunity to build and write. A reason to write that is directly linked to their interests and reminds that writing in fun.

My Students
My students are what I call reluctant writers. I work with a group of amazing students who all have disabilities and school doesn't come easy. Writing can often be challenging and roadblocks can get in the way such as spelling, confidence, and not knowing what to write about.
They love interactive writing and when writing becomes more hands-on.
I am finding they have so much to say when they are given the opportunity to create and then write. Different genres help them to develop their writing skills and find joy in writing again.
My Project
Lego 3-in-1 sets provide three different writing tasks per creation. These Lego sets will support my students as they write informational writing and specifically "How-To" writing while they work on sequencing.
These sets will be used in a writing station to engage reluctant writers through using high-interest manipulatives in the writing process.
Students will build the sets and then write directions and "How-To" pieces of writing.
This project will remind students of the joy of writing! They will learn to be specific and clear in their writing as they have their peers follow their directions and try to recreate their creation.
