This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

It's an election year! No, not that election, but the California Young Readers' Medal voting event. Students get to read and vote in a state wide event and choose the best book and author for California.

Community events build better readers.

The CYRM state read gives students a voice to select from a given list of books that they've read and vote for the one they think is the best book.

Literature circles and reading clubs foster conversations about the books that are being read. The selected books run from social emotional content to historical fiction and beyond. Students share multiple points of view which broadens the world around us.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
