Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am the Early Literacy Coach and Dual Language Coordinator at a pioneer 90/10 model Dual Language school in East Oakland.
Nowadays, my school district is facing difficult times with big budget cuts that affect teachers and students, especially teachers and student supplies, so when it comes to books and libraries the cuts
Despite all the challenges these students face daily, they are all learners with great potential. Together, we can help them achieve their English language and their Reading academic goals!
My Project
Speaking and writing are probably the most elaborate skills to develop when learning a language.
Sometimes language learners practicing speaking can become boring and tedious but when playing board games, it becomes an unconscious skill needed to play.
With these games both in Spanish and English, I hope that not only students will improve their speaking but also parents.
Our school community has been asking for years for Spanish and English classes for families.
By starting a game day community project lead by and for parents I am hoping for our school community to get even closer and engaging while learning from one another and playing games that will develop their speaking.
