Students in my kindergarten classroom come to school excited about learning. Many of my students come from low income families, and all the students at my school receive free breakfast and lunch. This background can mean that students’ families cannot afford to purchase needed school supplies.
My students deserve to receive the best education possible so that they are able to succeed in school and in life.
These boys and girls have such awesome attitudes, and they try their best every day!
My students love to take their learning outside. On a beautiful day, they like to go outside to read, work on a science activity or practice writing. Unfortunately, this can be difficult since the only places to sit are on the grass or on the sidewalk. They also have difficulty working on papers outside since they do not have a hard surface to put their papers on while they are writing.
I am requesting outdoor blankets and clipboards so that my students will have an adequate and comfortable space for outside learning.
We have a beautiful, grassy area right outside of our classroom's back door. My students will use the outdoor blankets to sit on this grassy area and engage in various activities such as partner reading, working on math practice sheets or drawing artwork. They will use the clipboards as a stable writing surface when they are completing an activity involving writing or drawing on paper.
My students will also be able to use the clipboard during nature walks and in the classroom, when they want to sit on the floor to do their work. I plan to use the blankets and clipboards for many years, so the benefit will extend far beyond my current classroom of eighteen students.
Thank you for taking the time to read my project idea!
