My Students

My students are a rainbow of cultural and socioeconomic diversity in a rich urban environment. They are both artistically and academically motivated in their learning as they attend an arts/performing arts high school in which they have specific majors of study in the arts. They are also college-oriented and so choose rigorous preparatory coursework such as College Board-level Advanced Placement classes. They also enjoy expressing their knowledge and their art through classroom discussions and debates, group work, and hands-on experiments and projects.

My Project

In the following, you'll find Sharpies, Post-it Notes, poster paper, and dry erase markers. All of the supplies enclosed will benefit my students in their ability to make posters, refine their ideas, get their thinking visible and allow me to assess my students in a meaningfully immediate way.

Every cent of this project will be used to help the students express their ideas in a meaningful fashion.

The dry erase markers help students play with ideas; the Post-it Notes help them make rumors and sort ideas out, and the posters themselves help the students share and create gorgeous gallery walks.
