Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Most of my students are English language learners.
English is not their first language. They are eager to learn. I want to provide my students with as many opportunities to learn as possible despite all of the challenges we face in a district that receives very little funding.
My Project
Our class will be completing a unit on Island of the Blue Dolphins. Currently, we have to share the class set of books. These books will give us an opportunity to be able to work on Island of the Blue Dolphins on our own without having to wait for another class to finish.
Interactive notebooks are a great way to keep information organized.
My students will be using the notebooks to complete interactive notebooks on Island of the Blue Dolphins. This will give them the opportunity to keep all of their work together in a safe place. It will also be a great tool to use when they are completing classwork and tests.
