This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend a Title I elementary school in North Carolina. Most of them are bilingual, speaking English only at school. Many parents and families work two or three jobs to provide the basic necessities at home. They want the best education for their children and to help them as much as they can.

My students are hard-working, curious kids.

They enjoy all hands-on activities and have a variety of interests. Our class works well together and enjoys helping each other learn.

My Project

I am requesting water bottles for my students. We have a water fountain in our classroom, but due to Covid, we are not allowed to use it. Now students must walk down the hallway to the water fountain and fill up a cup to bring back to the room.

At the beginning of the year, students were told they could bring in a water bottle from home so they could have a drink any time they needed it throughout the day.

So far, only two students have brought in a water bottle. I don't think many of my students have a water bottle to bring in and don't have the money to buy one.

Walking down the hallway takes a few minutes, and if my students need water a few times a day, they are missing academic time. I would never deny them water, so they know they are able to get a drink when they need to. They are good kids and have not abused the power to get a drink. Having their own water bottles would lessen the amount of time they need to leave the room, and they would love to have a water bottle of their own. It will keep them hydrated throughout the day so they can continue to grow and soar in all academic areas. Thank you for helping to keep my students healthy and hydrated!
