Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We have 20 students in our classroom, twelve of whom will be entering kindergarten in September. Our students have worked so hard this year and have made huge strides. With twelve of them going into kindergarten and the rest of them coming back to me next year, I would love to give them some materials that will help them to retain everything they have learned all year.
Did you know that over summer vacation, students can lose 17-34% of the prior year's learning gains and, if they do, they are more likely to continue the trend in subsequent summers?
Workbooks, magnet letters, writing utensils, flash cards, playdough, and puzzles can help our youngest learners, especially those entering kindergarten, continue learning over the summer rather than experiencing summer learning loss. Let's give them a jump start for when they return to school in September!
I would love to gift these items to my students at the end of the school year so that they and their families can continue to work toward their educational goals throughout the summer.
