Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach Social Studies at an application STEM high school in Washington, DC. My students are eager to learn and are always looking for ways to soak up the world beyond their communities. They appreciate learning about people's experiences all around the world and making connections to how people live and understand the world around them. They have an insatiable appetite for exposure to diverse cultures and understanding how these cultures see themselves in the world and how they as students relate to these different cultures.

My Project

If students can have their own review books to write in and take home, it offers them an opportunity to do a lot more independent review work outside of the classroom and allows them to take ownership of their practice to the AP World History Modern exam. These books will give students additional opportunities to master the skills they need to score high on the AP Exam. We will be using these books in our after-school and Saturday review sessions where students usually invest a significant amount of time to make sure they are prepared for the AP Exam.
