My students need sensory materials such as grip balls and chewable tools.
I am a kindergarten teacher to six children with autism. Students who are on the spectrum need to have sensory materials. It is very difficult for my students to sit and focus throughout the day. They enjoy being active and playing.
Sensory materials will help provide sensory stimulation to all the students with special needs.
Being in a low-income community, my students are lacking the sensory materials to help stimulate their sensory needs. Being able to take my students to a sensory gym would allow them to interact with other children, improve their sensory integration, and create a safe play environment that encourages sensory development.
Three words to describe my students are active, courageous, and routine-lovers.
My students are in need of a sensory gym. The sensory gym will be an integral part of my students' day. It will help my students release their energy in order to be able to focus throughout the day for a longer period of time. At this moment, my students lack the resources to help them develop their motor skills. The grip balls and stress balls will help my students develop hand muscles. My students can play with the activity balls with each other which will provide kinesthetic movements and interacting skills. The sensory chew tools will benefit my students who need positive oral stimulation.
Being able to provide a sensory gym with adequate tools will create a safe area that promotes developmental growth at their own pace.
The teachers, parents, and most importantly our children can feel a sense of security and relaxation.
