Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The items requested in this project will help my students think about how others may feel and put themselves in their "shoes" by thinking of another person's perspective. In our SEL curriculum we have a unit specifically focused on kindness and empathy. In order to think about how someone may feel we can pay attention to clues (a person's face, their body language and the situation). The books, activities, and games helps support reinforcing learning about emotions and increases self awareness as well.

We focus on ways to demonstrate acts of kindness and to take action when thinking and understanding how someone might feel and do things to show we care and that may help them feel better.

The books and games will help reinforce practicing ways we can be kind and caring by the words we use, the questions we ask to check in with others, the help and companionship we can offer and support our community of learners. I will measure the success of my students' understanding of compassion by their ability to describe at least 3 ways to show compassion and through observation of compassionate acts in our school.
