My Project

Having iPads and a printer in the art room has been a HUGE game changer for our art program. Digital art offers up a new avenue for art making that takes away the anxieties brought about by risk-taking or the fears of making mistakes.

When students are creating digital artwork on the iPads- knowing that they will be able to print out their masterpieces and physically touch the artwork exponentially increases student engagement in digital art processes.

Technology is fantastic for exploration, experimentation, and throwing caution to the wind but it is NOT great for concrete "artworks" unless we can convert their digital art into a physical piece that they can display and then take home. Having ink cartridges accessible makes this feasible for every art project that we attempt via the iPads and really broadens our student's perspectives of what digital art can be when we discuss how to convert from digital to physical mediums.
