Painting can be a challenge for children with fine motor difficulties. Early childhood development tends to emphasize play and process. Using a paintbrush with controlled movements and pressures is difficult!\r\nKwik stix affords us the opportunity to use paints but with a large wide base grip and in the form similar to coloring with a marker. Children can still mix colors and not make a huge mess!\r\nWe have used them a lot with making backgrounds especially. This is viewable in the photos.","fullyFundedDate":1757683170947,"projectUrl":"project/lets-paint-without-water/9476271/","projectTitle":"Let's Paint Without Water!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Joyce","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3942640_orig.jpg?crop=2254,2254,x61,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1651631592101","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3942640"},{"teacherId":3942640,"projectId":9762651,"letterContent":"This project has done amazing things for our art program! Markers are magical in the art room for multiple reasons- but the most prominent one is that we don't use markers a lot during the year because they run out of \"juice\" very quickly when youhave 550 kids using them every week. The scented aspect of the markers is also enchanting and honestly is a big reason why kids are more likely to use every color or colors they usually wouldn't use. \r\nWe use markers for coloring our artworks but we also use them as makeshift paints! If you apply color to an artwork on good quality paper and then use water on a paintbrush, the color becomes like watercolor paints.\r\nWe also use markers on styrofoam and use them to \"print\" onto paper! Markers are extremely versatile in the artroom. They can even be used to color onto model magic modeling clay- then kneaded or twisted to create new colors. Kindergarten snails were created with markers and twisting to create a marble effect.\r\nWe also use markers colored onto coffee filters- then sprayed with water, the paper diffuses and presents a tie-dyed effect after drying. Super magical and a major \"whoa!!\" moment for my pre-k kids!\r\n\r\n\r\nThank you SO much for donating the markers to our art program.
