Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is in an urban district. I have two half-day integrated classrooms, meaning I have students with and without disabilities. I have thirty students who range from ages three to five. They have a variety of cognitive, physical, and sensory needs. Many of my children receive speech, physical therapy, and occupational therapy services and require one-on-one support.
Many of my students are experiencing their first time in school.
They are a very curious and creative group of children. I look forward to them to be able to express themselves and learn about the world around them through play.
My Project
Young children learn best through play. This year, due to COVID-19, much of our pretend play materials have been stored away. Puppets, stuffed animals, dress up, and other soft materials are unable to be used. This project will give my students easy-to-clean dramatic play materials.
Children will have the opportunity to learn about community helpers, life skills, and animals in a hands on approach.
The Doctors Office and Chef Set will help them explore role playing. The doll accessories, cleaning sets, and kitchen tools will help them develop life skills. The camping set, garden set, and animal sets will develop knowledge about nature. Every material will have a positive effect on each child's social and emotional development and imagination!
